ICM Bot is an interesting
concept. If you are not familiar with ICM theory, it is
basically a way to play 1-table SitnGo tournaments where you either
shove all-in or fold preflop. It first became popular several years
ago when a Card Player magazine writer popularized it. Because it
doesn't require making any difficult poker decisions, it soon
developed a dedicated crowd of followers. You will see a lot of
people playing this way in Turbo and Super Turbo SNG's.
How effective this
strategy actually is, can be debated. However somebody developed an
open-source ICM calculator and published it on the internet. This
poker bot product showed up a couple of years ago and uses that
calculator to play. They had a lot of initial customers and it was
an interesting product, for a while anyway.
This bot has only ever
supported Poker Stars and Full Tilt, and both of those rooms banned
the software immediately. They both hunt for this product and when
they find it they will ban your account and keep your entire account
balance. However nobody ever really reported great results with it,
and interest in it died as quickly as it began.
The website is still
there, but at this point it can almost be considered a scam. It
hasn't been updated in almost a year and Full Tilt has had many
poker room upgrades which would require the bot to be fixed in order
for it to keep working. I doubt the thing still works. You cannot
join their support forum until after you buy the product, which is a
big red flag.
Even back when it worked,
the major problem with it is that it cannot actually play poker. It
could just shove all-in or fold preflop. Those times that you got a
free play in the big blind, it would just fold after the flop - even
when you flopped the nuts. This aggravated customers.
The website should really
be taken down now. However I am sure they leave it up because once
in a while some unsuspecting treasure hunter finds it and buys it.
That is probably like spending money into a black hole nowadays.
