Regardless of the level
you are playing at, some sort of table selection needs to be done if
you are playing cash games. If you are starting your Poker Bot
manually one of the paid subscription services works just fine. If
you are looking for automation, and every Poker Botter is, cash
game hoppers with table scan integration is the way to go.
There will be more
articles on the hoppers at a later date. This is about hand
histories. If you are using a database scanner to do your table
selection, there is no quicker way to get hundreds of thousands of
hands in a hurry. There are several sites that offer this service,
but I use PokerTableRatings.com. They are usually a little
higher priced, but their hands are usually a lot more recent than
the competition. Sign up for their email list for discount codes and
buy them when they arrive. Good table selection is the key to any
winning player, be they robot or human.
With a typical
tight-aggressive profile you want to find tables that have
loose-passive players. Two or three of these makes the game nice and
profitable.
However it can also be a
good strategy to follow maniac players around. This will increase
your variance (that is, make your swings bigger) but in the end
maniacs are probably the most profitable player type to target. You
will want a profile that slow-plays, traps, and calls a lot with
medium strength hands in a game with a maniac in it.
