I would say the biggest
mistake newcomers make, is jumping in too high and too fast. The
"out of the box" Poker Bot from Shanky Technologies is a proven
winner already and I would suggest observing its play for some time
before trying to move up in levels or adjusting its play. It
important that you become familiar with the operation of the
software in each of the rooms you play at first. Once you are
comfortable with it it's operation and get a feel for a little of
the PPL , its time to move up in levels.
Most beginners think this
is a "Get Rich Now" scheme. Patience pays off in this game. Start
low and follow proper bankroll management. The best way to start is
to clear the poker room deposit bonuses. These are difficult to
clear by yourself in lower stakes games. But with a bot it becomes
child's play. Just turn it on when you go to bed or go to work. I
would advise 3-tabling or 4-tabling NL5 cash games to get started on
those bonuses.
After the bonus is
cleared you will be hundreds of dollars richer. Now you can sit down
and figure out what you really want to do. Switch to another room
and get that bonus, keep on grinding for rakeback, or maybe you want
to be an SNG or MTT specialist.
Don't forget about the
bad beat jackpots. The Merge network and Cereus networks have them
and when they get big the cash games get so profitable that just
about any tight-aggressive cash game profile will beat the games.
Plus when you get a piece of the jackpot it will give your bankroll
a nice boost.
Personally I like the
large-field MTT's and have had awesome 4-figure paydays using it
completely unassisted in the tourneys. There is even add-on software
available that can register and seat you in the events that you want
to play.
